Why it says so here

A party that asks for members but says nothing about money invites a fair question: who is paying for this? Today the answer is that costs are met personally by the Party Secretary, and no outside money is involved.

If that changes, here is what will apply

Political donations in Australia are regulated, and we would rather set the expectation now than surprise anyone later.

• Only allowable donors. Foreign donations are prohibited. Donors need to be on an Australian electoral roll, or an Australian citizen, resident or entity, and would be asked to declare it.
• Disclosure above the threshold. Donations above the indexed disclosure threshold set by the Australian Electoral Commission must be reported, and the donor named in a public return. Splitting a larger gift into smaller ones to stay under it is not allowed.
• Annual returns. Once registered, the Party lodges annual financial returns with the AEC, which the AEC publishes.
• No policy for sale. This one is ours rather than the law's. Party positions are set by member vote under clause 6. A donation cannot buy a position, because no officer has the power to set one.
